"A group of 6 well trained resistance fighters were send to steal a German truck. They went with bikes to a place called Woeste Have because it was very dark and deserted. Each of one were armed with a Stengun and the commander was also armed with a Walther pistol. 5 of the resistance fighters had a SS uniform and 1 had a Royal police uniform. Two men of the group were former austrian SS.

At almost 11pm they heard a sound of a vehicle but not a truck. It was a car. This happened a few times. After a long time they heard another vehicle approaching but again it was a car.

The resistance fighters thought they hear the sound of a truck. One of the former SS shined a light indicating a stop sign. Rauter thought that was strange because they had just agreed that there wouldn’t be any traffic controls in Holland. He told his driver not to stop but the driver did. The group was surprised when they saw the BMW. Rauter already didn’t trust it and took his machinegun. He told Exner to give him covering fire. The commander jumped on the front of the car and began shooting through the window. All the sudden everybody was shooting at the car. The group looked in the car twice but were sure that nobody survived.
Oberleutnant Exner was riddled with bullets and the driver was killed when a bullet went behind his ear. Rauter was shot through his jaw, twice through his lung and once through his hand and thigh-bone"
